The Ladies' Soccer event has survived 14 years since its entry into the Bench and Bar Games in 1996.

Bench & Bar Games 2009 magazine celebrates 40 years of friendship between Singapore and Malaysia from 1969 - 2009.

Back in the 1990s, Susan and Ling had been playing netball
for lawsoc in the b&b games for a couple of years.
In 1996, we decided that we should give ladies' soccer a shot
and proposed that it be included in the b&b games.
Lawsoc was thoroughly amused, but not in a nice way.
For fear that we might ruin our nails,
they decided the ladies' game should be a non-competitive event.
After our victorious win over the Malaysians,
lawsoc realised that we stood a good chance of
scoring points for Team Singapore.
It eventually turned competitive and since then,
we have often earned crucial points for Singapore,
and once been the deciding game which determined
whether Singapore or Malaysia won the Champion's Trophy.
